The sensory material of the pressure cylinders consists of a wooden tray with twelve slots for neatly placing the cylinders, also made of wood. The main feature of the activity is the spring-loaded button at the top of each cylinder. Six cylinders have wood-coloured buttons. By pressing them, one discovers different degrees of pressure that can be graduated and matched with the corresponding cylinders with the black button. Discovering the different pressure resistances, pairing and graduating them encourages the ability to control and maintain attention and refine pressure perception. The game refines the sensory perception of touch; recognising different degrees of pressure is a useful key to exploring the environment, helps control touch and contributes to the development of kinaesthetic and haptic perception.
