Interlocking Italy is a geographical puzzle, made entirely of birch wood, useful for discovering and learning about geography. The basic frame, with the geographical borders highlighted, contains the peninsula into which the regions characterised by different colours can be fitted. The game encourages sensory activity of sight and touch and the memorisation of the various shapes of the regions. The knobs on each region facilitate manipulation and fine motor skills in the hand, which are useful for gripping the pencil correctly, and also indicate the position of the capital city. The game stimulates the ability to concentrate, helps to know and memorise positions and names of regions. The game-work can be implemented and deepened with the use of control maps that serve to verify the correspondence of the regions and learn the names of the capitals.
