The six-drawer flat geometric figure box is designed to provide the geometric figures strictly necessary, based on the first box designed by Maria Montessori, while also having a more accessible price. The drawers are easy to pull out and contain six tiles each with carved categories of plane geometric figures, each with a knob to facilitate gripping and manipulation. The special grip of the knob encourages the right finger movement, useful for gripping the writing instrument. This material allows different geometric figures to be recognised and touched, which can then be extracted and repositioned in the corresponding tiles that act as a base frame. The first drawer contains a wooden frame, an equilateral triangle, a parallelogram, a right-angled trapezoid and three wooden tiles into which the figures fit perfectly. The second drawer contains: six circles in gradation. The third: a square and five rectangles of gradually decreasing size. The fourth contains six types of triangles: three scalene (one octusangle, one rectangle and one acutangle) and three isosceles (one octusangle, one rectangle and one acutangle). The fifth drawer contains six polygons: pentagon, hexagon, heptagon, octagon, ennagon, decagon. The sixth drawer contains six various figures: flower, oval, ellipse, quadrilateral (rhombus), curved triangle, isosceles trapezium. Being able to observe and touch the shapes stimulates the tactile-muscular sense for the knowledge of geometric figures and helps in the exercise of prewriting. Finding the right position encourages the development of attention and concentration. The material is made entirely of birch wood.
Each drawer has a removable felt bottom in the same colour as the geometric shapes of the chest of drawers.
