The squares and rectangles puzzles is a game consisting of a rectangular birch frame, with 'soft' rounded corners, which contains three grooves in which three red squares are placed: one whole, one divided into two parts, one divided into four. The child is given the opportunity to manipulate the figure by first learning sensually, and then by naming the appropriate parts of the square in its entirety and in its first divisible parts. From an early age, the child "absorbs" the shape and becomes able to recognise it in the surrounding reality. Proceeding by trial and error to find the right position of the joints, so as to compose the square, helps to carry out problem solving activities and exercises eye-hand coordination.
Sensory material 0-3: made up of a set of objects "grouped according to a certain physical quality" - weight, temperature, size, shape, colour, sound, etc. - Refining the perception of each sense encourages exploration and knowledge. The game can be used from 20 months to 3 years. The squares are hand-painted in red with environmentally friendly, "Ecolabel" certified Luxens water-based paints. The base frame and shapes are made of birch wood. The squares and rectangles puzzle can be used in various play contexts and is also a very useful teaching aid.
