Division of squares - series of nine, is a material that is part of the development of the mathematical mind, and concretely shows the interaction between the periphery, stimulated by the manipulation of concrete material, and the centre, capable of abstract reasoning and a sense of discovery. Through sensory experience, one arrives at reasoned control of the relationships between figures, and this favours the intuition of the concepts of: equivalent, similar and equal. One of the tiles contains a whole square, in the others the same square is divided by the medians into two equal rectangles, four equal squares, eight equal rectangles and sixteen equal squares. The same whole square is divided by the diagonals and the medians together, into two equal triangles, into four equal triangles, into eight equal triangles, into sixteen equal triangles.
Ages 5 and up. The divided square is made entirely of birch with a beechwood knob. Hand-painted with Luxens water-based paint with reduced environmental impact, Ecolabel certified.
